Derelict fishing gear mapping project
The purpose of this project is to create a visual system with markers of the currently existing derelict commercial fishing gear.
The map is designed to offer information relating to the location of various derelict commercial fishing gear that has been spotted, as well as other objects of interest that might correlate to the commercial fishing gear accumulation, and pose potential danger to the oceanic species that inhabit the locations.
The project is designed to offer to the public information relating to the findings, such as GPS coordinates, depth, type of derelict object, potential video, and photos recorded by divers at location, and other information that may assist with the future retrieval of found gear.
